im looking at a small block motor was told its a 318 but can,t find numbers just aaqa on the back any ideas

 

if the motor is out of the car it's easy to look at the big cast #'s on the driver's side of the block, toward the rear, 'bout halfway between head and oil pan.

 

#'s also stamped on the front of the motor on the block just under the driver's side cyl. head.
