Well it's that time again. Lets see what your building.

I was able to find 1 of there old 70's-80's kits of a 70's lookin chevy pickup truck. The box cover was painted the same color and I liked it so much I painted it the same way.

Its a 1/87 or 76 scale model. All I did was paint it decals that came with the kit and swaped the wheels.

What scale are those? Did you make your own molds or were they available commercially? I think I remember seeing some commercial HO scale molds from back in the late 50s or early 60s.

  8. Looking to paint whitewalls on the tires that came with the 1/8 Scale 1932 Ford. What kind of paint should I use to paint white walls on model car tires?

  9. I believe those are 1/25th scale as I have one of the original Chevrolet models(it is metal;either aluminum or pot metal)and made by National Products. I also have a National 1950 GMC pickup. I've seen the Hudson before but(sadly)don't own one(yet).

Here are a couple of pictures of a promo I picked up this week.A 56 Olds 98 4 door hardtop that is missing a headlight and front bumper but the rest is there and surprisingly free of warpage so common in early promos. The front screw stanchions were broken off but I managed to cobble together some replacements using a couple of square nuts, some card stock and some 2 part epoxy. Not the prettiest looking but it works and it's hidden.
If anybody knows where I can get a grille and headlight it would be greatly appreciated.
    Best part was the price:$6!

Ok, these may be a little off topic but as a kid growing up in the early 60's Aurora's Monster and Hawk's Weird-Oh models seemed to go hand in hand with digging the hot rods, drag cars, and show cars of that era. Now, they're part of nostalgia car "kulture." Somehow, most of those models that I put together as a kid have survived to this day!

Another of my 1/48th Revell Ford pickups This one has a scratch built 302, full interior, driver's door opened, machined beauty rings and baby moons. It's sitting next to a 1/24 Ford pickup for comparison.

  22. Thanks for the heads up wojojo and little t;I will order them up tomorrow.I remember Modelhaus from a long time ago doing resin cars.I think Joe Wheat was involved(maybe that was another place;CRS kickin' in).
I haven't done much with model cars in awhile but still have a bunch of them.Been housebound for awhile now so I'm getting restless.

Hi All, I don't have time to build much any more, but here's a few from the past. 60's era dirt late model. Built in about 1986. was done as a 'curbside' car.

And another... late 70's Maynard Troyer Pinto modified. This was not done from the AMT kit. The ch***is is 100% scratch built, aluminum interior, vacu-formed hood. The body was a Pinto funny car body, that was cut and sectioned to make a correct asphalt modified body. I know these aren't fully HAMB compliant... forgive me, just been a long time since I got these out to look at them.
