    I used a '58 "x" inside my 28 frame rails with a 47 front end.

Seems like it would be in the way for exhaust etc. What are you trying no do by doing this?

Seems possible, but i dont think i would want to due to the cab mounting and the bed mounting. The corners wouldnt be on the frame... my 2 cents...

Its not a big deal, you just build outriggers to bolt to. In my case ,I retained the original frame rails,so the mounts were not even changed.

Guess I do not understand why. If you want the IFS, there are a lot of easy ways to mount that to your frame. Of course there is the S-10 frame swap that is real easy. Not sure what you gain with the 63 X-frame?

I just added a 46 Oldsmobile X-member with trailing arm rear end to a friends 42 Chevy PU. Had to raise engine & trans a few inches.

  8. The GM X-frame chassis was a sort of half-measure between body-on-frame and unit construction -- it took part of its strength from reinforced rocker sills and cross-bracing in the floor pan. A pickup truck body with its separate cab and cargo box will add no rigidity to the chassis. Not a good combination.

I agree with Bill on this one. Got to be other choices that make more sense.

Here's 3 more, its all I can find right now. The first is sectioning the rear motor mount.Because the bridge of the X was shortened, the cross member/mount had to be shortened. The middle pic shows how the driveshaft fit thru the X and on to the T-10

...this may work if you added rails to the "X' frame, making them fit the cab/box mounting points, virtually making a perimeter frame with a center "X'....but I'd check tread width and wheelbase first, etc. Seems I've seen this swap done in older "Truckin" magazines.

Better check the width, I think the X frame GM models had a wider track than the Chev pickup. Tires sticking out from the fenders is never a good look.

trbomax,...I see that's what you did now after re-reading your post,...
I think 63's mite work well, Gerry Burger from the old Rodder's Digest magazine used a 63 Chevy front frame section to clip his 47 Chevy sedan delivery way back, worked out well.
...myself I'd stick with the orig. frame and update it.

    X? Y?

Seems to me that you would be working against yourself by using a GM X frame. You will have to fabricate outriggers to mount the body and the bed so why not stay with a conventional perimeter frame?
