Sooooo... As my 400th post I thought I would start something a little interesting...
Something thats had me wondering for a while, and others im sure also...

Have you ever wondered what other states like/dislike?
Types of cars wanted here, and cant give away there?

Well Lets try as the huge network of people there is here what your area likes when it comes to the old car hobby...

This is not necessarily what i like but what Ive noticed the trend around here:

Ill start, North Western, Nc... Like Fords and Chevys... Not so much model a's and t's but more mid 50s stuff. 39-40 fords are a big hit, Lots of OT Muscle cars, but still not side brands, Ie pontiac, olds, caddy, mercury, lincoln, and Mopars of all types are more or less shunned...

Wagons and trucks are also very popular.

Nothing is shunned in Wisconsin. You can go to a car show and see 80's stuff that's been totally restored. Guys will fix up off brands, 70's cars, lots of 4 doors, anything they can find.

And when it comes time to sell, drivers are gold. Old cars you can drive home cheap are pretty rare for whatever reason, even oddballs. Plenty of projects, but roadworthy cars are few and far between in the low budget price range.

Rather its your opinion or not... See mine is not. I love oldsmobiles, but theres only 3 that I know of anywhere near me...

When I moved to western NC from NorCal I couldn't get over how popular '73-'87 Chevy C10s are. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting one.

    Or a Harley "bagger"...

I know that most guys that are into '55 Chevy's in my neck of the woods prefer the 2 door post..I have heard up North the hardtop is more popular.

Fact or fiction,,that's what I have been told. HRP

In Texas, in the early years, Mopars were never that popular. They were much more popular in the North and perhaps West. If you do see a Mopar from the 40/50/60's, it's most likely a mildly optioned car. Go to Chicago or NYC if you want to find people who ordered decked out Mopars.

I am no expert, but growing up in Alabama as a Ford fan, I found out that this area is Chevy country. I lived in North and South Carolina for a little while and it was a lot easier to find Fords and Ford parts there. Camaros are really popular here now.

I'm originally from Nebraska---both my 57 and my 55 BA Chevy were hdtps---the post cars were drag cars as I remember, except the one we got from the hydro c**** which was a 56 BA 2dr hdtp. This is just out of my memory---probably not correct everywhere, even in Nebraska.

Vintage foreign cars are popular around here. Maybe because there are a lot of vintage foreigners.

This may have been the case decades ago, but now, in the "Globalization/complete media saturation of the whole world with the same message" era we now live in, anything goes anywhere and everywhere!

  24. I notice a **** load of VWs and Corvairs... And most old cars have Cragars on them. My own personal nightmare!

Nose-bleed diesel pick-ups, mostly. Young guys in the coal, oil, & gas industry. It's their take on what was hot cars/hotrods to most of us when we were that age.
