Anyone running the full spider hub cap mooneyes just came out with? Was thinking about getting a set. They look good? ...or look like a chrome reverse knock off?

Sweet! they finally brought them back. I've always wanted to find some of these to put on the extra set of rims and tires I have for my 61 Starliner. I'm running painted wheels with dog dishes currently, but it would be nice to be able to swap over to more of an early "super stock" look if the mood strikes me. I wonder how hard it would be to remove the center bullet on these wheel covers? Anyone know what they look like from the back side?

I just found this old thread:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490403

If they are making them the same way, from post #3 it looks like the bullet may be easily removed. If there was some kind of awkward depth spacing left after I pulled the bullet I suppose I could replace them with some sort of flat plate for the back wheels and a modified bearing dust cap for the front to get the look.

Looks like the bullet is molded in with the whole wheel cover judging by the pic.

Damn, that's super tempting! I know I saw a few old original sets like these and thought they were neat. A little cheezy maybe, but I'd totally run a set. I had money set aside for a new set of wheels for my '52, now I'm wondering if my money would be better spent on these, plus I could afford a new radiator and a few other pieces I've been wanting...

Would LOVE to hear from anyone who has a set of these on their car or has seen some in person, what the quality is like, how well they fit, ect.

Man those things are sweet. Wonder if there will be any issues due to wheel spacing and such? Their site says it fits all 15" wheels but not all wheels are the same.

OK, I sprung for a set, and I'll report back when I get them. My '52 Ford has the exact same wheels as the shoebox pictured in their ad, so they should fit over the wheels fine, but we'll see.

I saw an original set of these at a swap meet this weekend (but in 14") and I decided to go for it.

Saw these in parts stores and on Mercury Cyclones as factory parts. We always called them cheapo chrome reverse caps.

^^^^ yeah what he said. I remember a red Mercury Cyclone in the neighborhood when I was a kid that had those.

I saw a pair of mercury cyclone caps last weekend at a swap meet. These spider caps look a lot better when it comes to quality.

My 64 Cyclone had them in the trunk. Didn't like them then and still not sure about them. There is just something very cool about the plain steel wheel painted up nice.

I did get them, but I haven't had a chance to put them on the car and take a picture yet.

The chrome is bright and the caps look like good quality. I will say that it's not so much a replacement for chromed steel wheels as it is a cool-looking hubcap, it's fairly obvious that they're caps. But they do look good, I like them, they're just what I expected.

If I get time today, I'll snap one on and grab a picture, I'm just not sure if they'll clear the currently tall lug nuts on my car.

I've debated buying those too as a temporary fix, but I'll wait for pics to see how they really look

The car is still in the garage (and filthy) so these pics aren't the greatest but it's a start. The caps don't quite fit tight with my mag style lug nuts so those will have to be replaced. Otherwise, I really like these. They give the look I was going for.

One thing I'll mention is that they were obviously made to mirror the look of the 49-56 Ford wheels and mine are hung up on the lug nuts already so if your wheels don't have any offset there's a possibility these won't fit. My Ford wheels already have a shallow dish so maybe it won't be a problem.

Quick update since I had my car out of the garage to move stuff around for winter, grabbed a better pic. My whitewalls are really dirty so they don't contrast a lot but these caps are really good looking, I'm very happy with them. I'm considering unbolting the bullets and painting the recessed area blue like they used to do with chromed wheels.
