My Dad found this Hot Rod Magazine inside another magazine from the 50's. Because of the background of where it came from I have no reason to believe its a reprint but I know that they had been recopied over the years. I know there are differences in the original and the remakes. I was hoping someone can help me to identify if its the real deal. I have a car I may be buying and may try to sell this if its an original. Whatever info would of be great help. Thanks
Don't know how to tell the original from the repop, but I have the same issue that came free inside an issue of Hotrod about 20 years ago. I know mine is a reissue.
If it has 2 staples and is about 12 1/4" X 9 1/4" (If memory serves me right) then it is an original.
Repop, originals had a white bar along the bottom. Also where the price, issue info and date is should be white not red they are also larger format about 12" x 9".
Good info here. My reissue has 3 staples and on page 22 it says re-issued 1987 Mine measures 8" x 10 1/2"
From Rob Kinnan on the Hot Rod website: "The way to tell it's a reprint is if it's a normal 8.5x11 size (the original was slightly smaller), but more specifically if you look at the next to last page (or two before that...don't have one in front of me), at the very bottom the reprint issues say "Reprinted by Brooklands Books." Those reprints sneak by all the time as gennies. " Also, the reproduction has 3 staples and is about the size of your basic printer paper.
