my coupe is sprayed with, what I am told is, Dupont DP primer. I have heard DP90, DP40, etc. Here is what I don't know.... judging from the pic below, does anyone know if that seems right?
The finish is very course is dead (flat) matte blue.
I need to get more in the blue color, I am replacing the visor and a couple other things and need to find some paint (and if multi stage, how to get it right (mixing and spraying tips)).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought I remember DP90 (black), DP40 (tan or gray?) were PPG, and DP60 being the blue. Check your local paint store.

I am far from an expert, but I have used the DP90. (if I recall it is almost olive green).I may be wrong my memory is a little fuzzy. But anyway, when they went from DP to DPLF(lead free) the durability was not good.

No such thing as Dupont DP.
PPG DP60LF is blue and probably what you want. Lead was phased out years ago (hence the LF for lead free) and any non LF you might run across is probably well past its shelf life. Have not really noticed a difference in the durability of LF versus non LF, neither of the primers have much if any UV protection and both will chalk. Apply a couple of wet coats and you should be good (lasts for years here in the NM sun.)

Follow the directions on the product sheet:
    http://www.custom-aerosol.com/pdf/PPG-DPLF-epoxy-primer-product-sheet.pdf
Use of the "optional" correct temperature reducer will result in a very smooth surface. If you do not want the paint to chalk you could topcoat with a flat clear coat.

Note: Oops, should have clicked on your link, sorry about being redundant.

Sad to tell you but the chances of a match will be slim right out of the can, yes DP-60 will be blue but its a sealer not a top coat and has no uv protection so it fades and looks chalky. It may be close but would require some fancy tinting to be perfect. Ran my truck in blue for years and touched up with every body mod. You can apply a clear coat over it. Like "Flex and Flat"and make a pretty cool finish with it.

all good info.... but damn, what I wouldn't give to get this in a rattle can! I don't need much, just enough.

If I am new to spraying.... any advice on what gun to buy (and tip)?

To match the color, I will probably spray the entire roof.... I am doing anew visor (see pic) but am sure doing at least the new roof would be the easiest way to match (or at least get close)

    hey,

Any automotive paint supply source worth a pinch of **** should be able to mix a match for that bleu, the ones in my area of the country even offer colour matches in rattle cans!;)

For a one time blow 'n' go, you could use a cheep chi-com throw-away gun from "Horrably ****ed'' or some like/kind source. Primer ain't that picky as guns go, for an area of that size.

Too, ya could properly prep & prime that part, in any colour primer, and top coat it with a flattened urethane, and not worry about rust forming from just a primered part being exposed to the weather, over time.

    Here you go...

And as far as matching I think it will be difficult...
What about doing white/black on the roof. A contrast usually looks much better than a not so good match...

Just about any spray gun with a 1.3/1.4 tip.
    Heres some good info...

You could shoot the roof in a darker blue metallic topcoat

    Summersshow,
Thanks for the pics. Hoping it was "redder" to mix w/black for an oxblood color.
