last weekend i spent on hammerforming a patch panel for tech week. felt good to get out in to the garage again. then seeing the sodapop '54 thread, lit a fire under my ass again. its slow work, and man am i sore today from all the contortions and odd ways i had to hold my head welding, but DAM i got a rear floor in the '54 drivers side! :D

hope i can loosen my muscles up enough to get out there again today and keep pluggin along

Finished painting the new wheels for my fathers '46 for business coupe, I will post pics in the future, of its new wheel and tire, and altitude. Been cleaning out the garage, and getting ready for the winter, since the Buick is still here, it will get some work done on it this year. Pretty much, I havent been real motivated as of late, but I will get a new head of steam soon.

Spent most of the day removing the trunk floor and building the "Kick up" for the frame on the T Coupe. Going to have to get the correct rear tires so I can get the rear end in. Don't believe the dirt track tires I have on it now will work too good this Winter...

I picked up a free sbc off of twincitiesfreemarket.org on Friday nite... Tuck helped me unload it last nite (who am I kidding... he brought the cherry picker, and did the work!), I started welding up a little engine stand to both hold the engine, and practice welding... I've not done much as of late.

That's about it... did some brainstorming about getting the stance down in the roots... (get it? roots are below the weeds... haha... yeah, I have a really bad sense of humor) :)

I usually don't do enough to talk about, but Saturday, with much help from Frank (Fab32), we hauled a truck cab and frame down to Clio to Steve's (hot_rod_to_hell) place, then drove another 20 minutes to the salvage yard and loaded up the '57 Chevy that I did a swap for. After much discussion as to what axle might work under it to make it a roller, and time running out (I had to get back to play a gig that night) we decided to go ahead and load it even without the rear axle. Thanks to Steve's dad for his help in getting it on the trailer. His handy, dandy crane truck allowed us to lift one end at a time and back the trailer under it.
It's now residing at Frank's 'til I get an axle under it, then it'll be sitting in MY garage.
I think it's earned the name "Scrap Metal".

After sandin on it all week in the afternoon I finally got the bitch sprayed. My dad and I mixed base coat pink with z-chrome to primer/seal the bodywork. In a couple of weeks I will block it again with 220 and paint the car with just the base color for a semi-gloss finish.

Started Friday off with picking up my 6x2 intake from the carb rebuilder and then spend the weekend continuing the wiring job. (just have the basic engine to wire now).

mocked the rad and headlights in place to see if I liked the chrome or painted 29 grill shell better. without fenders, I am leaning towards a painted version.

Finally got some project time this weekend. Fabbed and tacked up rear corner on the Ferguson coupe-cum-roadster. Shortened the cockpit about 8 inches. I think it'll look ok. Going to start building doors next. Some fun!

Looking sharp Dave, what else you got cooking over there??

  27. Well I stood and looked at the 1950 Chevy bare frame that still has some of the front stuff on it. Took off the tires & chrome reverse wheels (that was easy) then took off the left front brake drum and got the backing plate off (that was semi easy). Then went over to the right side & of course that brake drum did not want to come off. Managed to get drum out about a half inch or so - then sprayed WD40 all over the old style adjuster that is next to the wheel cylinder at the top. Inserted screwdriver into access slot, managed to get the starwheel to start turning -YES! - anyway got the drum off and then the backing plate. Washed my hands and drank a DR. Pepper. Then the neighbor girls boyfriend came flying down the dirt road around 50 MPH & covered our property in a cloud of dust. Boy was I pi--ed off! I got on my dirt bike and drove over there & chewed out the grandfather because he was the only one I could find. Well from there shit rolls downhill. I went back home, a few minutes later the kid comes past my place going nice & slow at the posted speed of 25 mph. The grandfather comes over & visits me, tells me how he chewed the kid out and kicked him off his property. We had a good visit. Now it is dark and here I am.:D Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy

Stayed busy Friday night getting the truck and trailer ready. Got up early Saturday and went to my "Gidens" breakfast and then took off with trailer in tow for 250 mile ride to pick up a 1956 Ford truck cab that a friend GAVE me. Got it loaded and drove 5 hours back home with a grin on my face you couldn't get off with a side grinder. Cab needs very little work and has suicide doors, all glass and rubber and trim. Finally, I got a deal!!!!!!!!!
