Hi...have been looking for history on a MGTC that raced back in the early 50's on the west coast...car was powered by a V8-60, and was known as the 2jr car...built by Bill Stroppe for Bill Cramer and raced by Phill Hill, Bill Stroppe, Cramer, Burkhard and others. It was quite the car in its day. the last I have it running was in sept of 1953 at Santa Barbara...then she disappears. I thought it might be the pappy Pedigo car, but I have eliminated that as both the 2jr and the Pedigo car raced at the same events. Last known owner was a fellow named Ralph Seifer from Long Beach. have not been able to find him . Wondered if anyone knew about the car or had any leads on it?..Thanks..Mike

Besides 40s American hop-ups - I am a MG enthusiast and racer with the MG vintage racers ( MGVR )
To help you in your history research call Don Martine
He has a great Inn in Montery Ca ( Martine Inn ) and several historic race and road MGs housed at the Inn ( I think he has a V860 with period race history, I recall it msy have Johnny Von Nuemann history.

His phone # is 831-373-3388 - give him a call and he can either help or get you in the right direction

    Best of luck

As a kid growing up in so cal I remember seeing v8 60's in a lot of sports cars and small boats, most of the people that originally had them swapped them out for the larger displacement flatheads and as a result a lot of auto repair shops had them lying around. because of their use in midgets their was also a lot of speed parts for them, Ardun heads, Jiggler, etc. The Simca v860 with Ardun heads would be nice in one of those cars.

thanks for the pointers..I did call Don a few months back and although he has quite a few MG racers, he does not know what ever became of the 2jr car....I have also been on Tams site, even sent him a note to which he also has no idea as to what happened to 2jr....am somewhat familiar with the Joe Gertler website and his car builds, however, this particular TC never was on the east coast, as far as I know?....other avenues are the various racing websites which list cars as well as drivers and I have had no luck on those...seemingly, the car disappears after 1953....but, the search goes on.

This won't help with your search, but it is kinda sorta related. A high school buddy, Russell Martin, drove a 60-powered MG that was reportedly Pedigo's old car circa 1957. By then it was on the street with 15" wires, cycle fenders, and nicely painted BRG. I understood that it was actually a TA or TB rather than a TC.

Russell moved on and the MG was later for sale on a used car lot on Pico Blvd in WLA or Santa Monica. I have heard that it was eventually restored back to an "original" MG configuration. The car was very cool when Russell owned it, and it made a wonderful noise.

Russ eventually introduced me to the girl that became my first wife circa 1962, and sadly was killed in a Formula Jr. race at Santa Barbara a year or so later.

Thanks...I saw his posts on several sites, found him I think, but phone number is no good...might just try to see if someone lives near him and pay him a visit....I suspect he is a bit on the "older" side and hoping he is still with us on planet earth...

    FWIW
There is a guy near Stillwater, Oklahoma that has a V8 60 with transmission attached that has a MG tag on it. I have seen it but can not verify it to be authentic, but all indications were it was actually MG.

Don't you know that, only Model A and other ford cars of the era ran Flatheads, and everything else ran SBC. [emoji15][emoji44][emoji50]

All kindling aside, if you will find a car like that, you should come up with some pictures of the car, from front, sides and rear a pics of special features that help ID a car like this despite it being without hood/fenders, mill or rear end!

If you don't know the faith of the car, you can't know how it looks or if it's ended up in Sweden or UK?
I hope it's around, because rhats such a nice car, and running Small Flat, it makes it an epic rod!
