what's the diff...?

    hey all...got a diff i can't put a name on...looks early GM/Olds...?...need to clean it up n see what markings i can find...but until i can get to it am wondering what anyone might know...

    The flange looks like it takes the 56 Ford U joint.

    will have a look this week and see what comes up...i've done a ton of google image searches and early GM looks closest at this point...

    Ive got a 48 caddy and the flange and diff look the same, can you tell us what the wheel stud spread is ? my caddy is 5 on 4 3/4

    I've got an early '50's Ford rear under my '36 coupe and it doesn't look like that. The u-joint flange on mine looks the same as shown but the rear of the housing is completely round and smooth, without the extra raised area for the ring gear clearance.

    '49-'56 Ford car. It is not an 8" anything.
