I have a 47 Nash 600 model 4740 car has 38,000 original miles. Runs and purrs like a kitten. Its all original down to the positive ground 6 volt system. I started to redo the wiring and replace the cracked cloth wires with conventional wiring. It has gone well so far. I drove the car about 30 miles yesterday and notice a lot of antifreeze coming out of the over flow tube on the radiator I also noticed it leaking from the water pump. Its raining today so I cant really see what part of the pump its coming from. Also realized the water pump is connect by a shaft to the generator:mad: Question is anyone know where Nash parts are readily available.

Ok diagnosis in progress. First I have antifreeze coming out of the over flow tube on the radiator, it doesn't do it at idle only when giving her fuel. Second the shaft that operates the water pump from the generator is leaking where there is a compression fitting, I read in the manual to tighten the nut up while it is operating yeahhhhh right the distributors in the way and you cant reach it from the bottom. I talked to a buddy of mine and he suggested it might be a cracked head gasket. There is no coolant in the oil. The engine runs like a sewing machine no noise what so ever. You cant hardly hear it running and no loss of power. Could this be a thermostat, radiator or radiator cap issue????

I had a similar problem with my 47 600 I flushed the system twice then replaced the thermostat also had a friend check the engine with a thermal heat gun for me it solved the problem as far as the water pump goes I had the same problem you can use a plumber's basin wrench it has a flexible head. I tightened it a little at a time without the engine running it was safer also there is a grease filling in the pump

gmpenn thanks for the info. I took the pump off cleaned it really good regreased it and I bought some graphite packing for sinks and some thick twine. I painstakingly covered the twine in the graphite and made a seal. It worked great lol. She's back on the road now. I appreciate the heads up with the nash club. Thanks for the additional sights. BTW I was google imaging nash's and saw your black on red scheme and it is by far the coolest paint I have seen for one. Hdonlybob, gonna keep her stock except may lowering her a little and new paint shes to nice to cut up. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how. You can check my profile there are some there.

Yes they are a very tight knit group, but very helpful if you stay on the down low. I also sold some extra parts to them after I hot rodded my Nash!
