what's everyone running for mirrors on their cars? are you using just one on the driver's side? passenger side also? one smack dab in the middle mounted off the dash? let's see them.

One in the middle of the dash at most. No need for side mirrors on a small roadster IMO.

I plan on just mounting a rear view mirror on the windshield in my 25 T, no side mirrors. Just turn your head quick.

therein lies the problem, my head doesn't swivel like it used to due to injuries and arthritus. i'm good turning to my left, not so much to my right. my back isn't much better.

I'm building a '25 roadster and, because my head no longer swivels like a bobble-head, I intend to put at least three mirrors on it even if it looks like a Modder scooter in Quadrophenia. Paranoia trumps other considerations. Not only do I want to see what's going on in front of me, but what's coming up behind. It might well be a concrete truck driven by Bruno.

  9. Sweet little modified. I think anything coming off the stanchion would look interrupt the 'flow'....Why not fab up a rear-view mirror that clamps onto the center of the windscreen? You might be able to use part of an old wind wing clamp as a basis.

    edited to add:
Maybe something like this (but I'd use an oval or square mirror)

I'm planning on getting one of those metal prong-clips that you put in your kitchen to hang a broom onto, and I'm going to bolt a mirror to it so I can clip it onto my windshield frame and move it around or remove it as needed. The diameter is perfect, just have to find a mirror that's not too heavy and attach it cleanly.

I welded a knob on my windshield post and threaded it before it was rechromed. The mirror head is also offset so when the tops on I turn it out and in when its naked ( like it should be ) it gets turned in! Gary:D

Now I know this isn't on a T but I plan on running this style mirror on my '27 roadster off of just the driver side window post as low as possible with the slope of the bracket going down like it is in this picture.

most of the 26-27 pics i saved are on the lakes, so unfortunately, they aren't running mirrors. here's another. it looks like he has something in the center of the windshield.

I've never mounted a mirror on the center dash. you can't see over the top of the seat.

Get out on the interstate and see what you think of that mirror in a real driving environment. They look cool but offer little view unless the mirror is convex.

I'll be looking at the same issue on my '27 roadster too.
'was thinking of drilling a hole to mount one top center of the windshield,
mine will have the raw glass edge like yours,
and mounting one to the driver's side post too

my RPU has a frame all the way around so I welded a tab for the top center mirror
and fabbed up a simple plate that gets held on by the top wing nut on the post
    for a driver's side mirror
with a cheapo peep mirror screwed to the tab
it was only going to be temporary
but it has served it's purpose for several years

I had a passenger side mirror on the RPU but it died on the road somewhere
    I can live without it
but rely on the other two all the time

  20. This is not a good pic , but I made a little base piece that fastens to the door.. I used most of a clip-on type arm... Used a flathead machine screw from the bottom of the base up into the arm..Made them out of a 2" clip-on type
    I later added a w/shield mounted R/V mirror.....

  21. I used a 2" glue on spot mirror on the corner of the glass. All you needed to see was if something was back there, not read the plates! Worked well for me. George later added mirrors bolted to the stantions

I'm about ready for mirrors. Kinda like the mirror on the door idea.

You can use a small suction cup mirror in the top center of the windshield as a start.
Ford side mirrors you might think about a motorcycle or bicycle mirror with the arm taking the place of the upper rear carriage bolt holding the windshield posts on either side.

  24. I have this 3'' item on mine, it works well but im going to change it to maybe a 4'' peep or 32 style and go with both sides as there are 5/16 holes in both posts. JW

That extension on the mirror arm is exactly what is required for real world driving. That arm extends to the widest point of the body,,,excellent choice

I ran across a fellow in a 23 T that had a 3 inch rear view mirror that fastened to this left wrist with velcro straps. Very adjustable and didn't distract from his cars appearance.

    Look at old MG's,
I hate rear view mirrors,, but put one on drivers side and one in middle.

It's only temporary, unless it works, !

  29. I got these from the Ford Barn a few years ago, the only 5 inch round mirrors I could find. My 29 is very hard to see behind you with the top on so the mirrors really make a difference, I also have one mounted to the top of the windshield frame on the inside. The last two pic's are with some oval mirrors I had on but never liked them so switched to the bigger round ones.

thanks for the tip. i'm leaning towards a 3 or 4 inch round mirror on the driver's side and a rectangular mirror in the center of the windshield. want to stay away from speedway crap. looking at all options.
