Looking at a set of the BF Goodrich Silvertown radials that Coker sells for my beater 32 fordor to run around town on. Most all of my driving is in downtown Austin and I think the larger 285/70/15 that they are remaking now would make the car ride better in the rear. I know people have complained in the past about the Cokers being out of round and not balancing properly but has anyone on here run these tires specifically? I don't want to have the radials verses bias debate again and I don't care if you hate radials. I just want to know how you like your Silvertown 285/70/15 tires. I'm thinking maybe a 165r15 or so on the front with the 285/70/15 on the rear. Thanks in advance. -Ron
I run them on a Deuce highboy and i recall that they didn't balance up nicely but they are great driving ....no shake and no issues!!!........Tim
I have a set of radial T/A 285's on my 55' studebaker, been thinking about getting some pie crust slicks. They are blackwall, don't know if you are looking for www. If you are interested in them pm me. From what I have read they have the same tread pattern.
I have heard that the radials are much better than the bias type tires as far as the balancing from Coker. I would run them and know of a few that have them with no problems.
I ran the Coker 285/70/15 on the rear of a Chevy stepside and had about 22 thousand miles on them before I sold it...Very happy with them... The white walls are not as bright as when new (5yrs) I"m now using the Diamondback radial white walls on my 35 ford Pu and I'm real impressed with them and how they smooth the side walls of all the lettering.
Got a pair for my 5 window and they balanced out OK and the tire shop checked them for run out and that checked OK. Haven't had a chance to try them out due to the weather. Have about 50 miles on them. Ended up buying mine through Summit because Coker was out of stock. They had $25.00 a tire off and free shipping at the time.
