The ins. is going to pay on the 32 ford Roadster. I payed 28,000 + 1250.00 S/H The smoke dammage came to $21,128. I have spent about $500.00 on it and it looks and runs great. Its nice to have a $8,700.00 32 Roadster. Good things do happen.. Do not know how to post photo. could e-mail to someone who can. Thanks LATER The trailer the car was shipped in burned, The car was on the top deck and only got smoked. car new name "Cooked Deuce".
If it only cost 800 to fix wheres the 21,000 coming from? Just curious because I do some insurance work.
The car was inspected in WY. before it was delivered to me in AZ. They are the ones who set the price. not me. I just took what they offed. LATER
Thats cool, take what ya can get right? Another good reason "stated value" insurance policies are the ONLY way to go.
That's awesome man. I wouldn't be bragging to much about what happened. These insurance companies are out for blood now a days.
That was prolly a "Agreed Value" policy rather than a Stated Value one. The Stated Value policy's have a depreciation clause and the Agreed Value one's do not. Semantics maybe but very important when buying a policy on a hot rod. BB
just incase anyone was wondering why our insurance rates are so high, you do know who pays for this in the long run, don't you? thanks duster.
yea... HE did. he paid for his policy in good faith. if he had an agreed value policy, and the insurance company paid what the going rate is for smoke damage and repair, then they kept their side of the contract. smoke repair and cleanup work is spendy as hell if you have it done by the "pro's" and i see nothing wrong with it if he bought what material he needed and did the work himself. stripping a car and completely cleaning it is no small task, even if all you end up using is a bottle of windex and a roll of paper towel to clean it up with
I think what they are trying to say is that they would have said " I can do it myself and save you a ton of money Mr. insurance company, I think I can do it for $500 and save you over $20 grand!! It is the least I can do since you take my money every month."
Yeah I am just sure EVERYONE here would have told them to keep the $20k!!!!!!!!! NOT! LOL.......... I am glad you got the $$$ and the car.
stripping a car and completely cleaning it is no small task, even if all you end up using is a bottle of windex and a roll of paper towel to clean it up with[/QUOTE] == Me and my friend have over 180 total hours in cleaning this car and replaceing parts. I had most of the parts I collected over the years. I think the Ins. co. was fair and so was I..
As far as i'm concerned you have nothing to explain. We all pay Ins. Many of us pay dearly for it, and when we do have a claim, even if it's one in 10 years, it can be a pain in the *** to get compensated for the claim. You paid for Ins to be covered in the case of something happening to your car. Something did, and you got what the Ins company felt resonable to put your car back to the state it was in prior to the incident..done deal. It isn't like you set the fire in order to make some quick cash on the deal. Every once in a while people end up on the plus side. this time it was you. I'm glad the car didn't burn up, and it's back to where you want it. congrats. Tony
good to see a nice outcome, alot of times dealing with insurance companies is like hitting your head against a brick wall.
Glad you still got the car, and it was savable. What about the other cars on the hauler that didn't fair so well..... I feel bad for those people. All they got was money! And hopefully it was enough to settle them.
