You are going to love that trans behind the banger. It was the first thing I did to mine and it was well worth it.

I actually am still running the A clutch. I haven't had any issues with it. It pulls good.

I'm really wonder if the V8 clutch set up was worth it. Needed the clutch done anyway. It slipped before, the clutch plate was new. Pressure plate was old.

I have heard both pro's and con's about using the v8 clutch. I know it is pricey.

I understand retrofitting juice brakes, and also dig '40 style brakes. Is this a period perfect car? If so what year is the cut-off? I ask because f100 brakes are self-energizing (not sure about f1's). I have driven an assortment of jalopies and rods and brakes are like having prayers answered, and certainly the better the brakes the quicker you avoid crashes --- always good. I'm just sayin'. I know you took the backing plates from a revered stash and I may be talking out of school. If so, it is only in the pursuit of less cinch marks in your skivvies. Something rodders who have been there know well. Today's roads are truly fast and furious, pardon the pun, and a nice car needs all the help it can get.

I do understand your thoughts on brakes. Anything can happen and good brakes are a plus, no doubt. You do have a valid point. That being said, I am doing a car that will represent the early to mid 40's. The newest part on the car will probably be the hub caps, 46 Ford. Now, I am using a dual chamber master cylinder, not fond of the single.

As I kid growing up, my dad had a 40 Ford. It was stock, other than the 283 Chevy. He drove it all over with me in the pass seat with no seat belts and stock 40 brakes. Don't remember any real problems with it stopping. Part of the reason I'm not in any fear of the brakes. I also drive the shit out of my 30 Ford with mechanical brakes. I drive that car as I'll drive this roadster, NOT like my modern car. That I think is the key to this stuff. I can't control the other guy who may pull out in front of me, that holds true no matter what I'm driving. I'll just drive as smart and defensive as I've always have.

Subscribed! If you're taking votes, I vote for the A grill shell, as it goes better with the frame and style.... If you went 32 frame, then I may vote for the 32 grill. Also, they look goofy with an uphil hood line if you don't chop it or lower it over the crossmember a couple inches.

Great build so far! Can't wait to see more....

Yes, the A grill shell stays. I dig it with the look of the car!

Well, it's been whittled down and sized. A few welds on it in the corners and I should have a good crossmember. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394248866.195341.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394248881.915390.jpg

Looking good! Keep doing what you're doing.
What's your plan for the wishbone? We made up a belly band to support the ball on our coupe.

Not sure what I want to use. I have a split pair of 35's and many various years that are not split. May adapt an A yoke to longer bones. I'm leaning towards split because I can tuck them up a little higher. They will not be parallel to the frame, but rather appear almost not split by being close to the cars center line.
