Dropped my little plastic speedometer drive gear down inside my 3-speed manual transmission tonight!!
1950 Chevy with I believe a 235 in it. Oh, and it's an open drive trans so I'm guessing it's not original as well.
Where can I get a new one?!?
    Thanks guys.......

Does that rear housing just slide right off?

Sounds like a job for the Harbor Freight inspection camera. Drain the trans and go fish in the hole the gear dropped down in??

Not to make light of your plight, but I had to replace the O-Ring on my speedo sender and thought about this thread. My conclusion was that I'd drop the drive shaft and pull the tail.

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!
Turns out there is some cast webbing that stopped it from falling all the way into the bath/sump area, and I "fished" forever until I got it!!

Which is cheaper ? Have you fly in with your dental pics next time I have a problem or just get the dental picks? Where do you buy those dingblasted things?

Most of the local parts stores have dental picks. I grab a couple more every time I stop in.
