Stumbled across this today while looking at some 60s pontiacs. The owner claimed it was a 392 what do the hemi experts think?

And no its not for sale trust me I tried! it's supposedly going into a speed boat of the same era. But there still out there!

You'd need the use code that's on a flat in front of the valley cover. 392s often turn out to be 331s, DeSotos, ect.

If it's not for sale, what difference does it make what kind of hemi it is?

Finally! had to reinstall the hamb app.
Sorry for the delay guys. As for the displacement issue it doesn't matter if it's not currently for sale he might change his mind one day but it's proof that there still out there and that we shouldn't leave no stone unturned!

always thought NE56 was good for a 354 and NE57 -NE58 were good for 392's...

    could be wrong though....

  12. All the pictures tell me is it's out of a Chrysler. You need the number off the lip in front of the valley cover.

If you can lay you thumb on top of the water outlet on the front of the head and the valve cover surface is about even with the top of you thumb it's a 392

They're all 392's, aren't they? And 98% of them are from letter cars......

The owner must really value the engine, as it looks to be stored outside under a rotten tarp.

Exactly my thoughts but it's perfectly fine with the rotten tarp and carpet he had laying on it according to him.

pretty sure everyone that looked at the tag line "hemis" knew just what he was talking about............... auto corrct can be a pain, but "auto answer" (yes, there is one!) can be deadly, depending where you are and your wife calls!!!! Don't ask me how I know!:p
