In an effort to supply some background and context to some of the photos, here is what I know about this image. It as taken in Salt Lake City in June of 1913. The man in the bowler hat is Bill Rishel, automotive editor of the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper. Who the gentleman is behind the wheel, I do not know, only that he is there to be in the photo. From about 1911 to just before WWI, Bill Rishel embarked on a yearly series of pathfinding expeditions throughout Utah and the West. He used a number of different automobiles, all furnished by local dealers. This snappy Velie roadster was his 1913 ride. He and an ***istant, mapped and do***ented all the roads and trails they travelled and then he published all the trip information in the Automotive Section of the Trib, complete with maps, milage and road conditions, for adventurous tourists who wanted to get out and explore in their autos. Bob.
