someone PLEASE enlighten me, what's the difference in a hot-rod and a street-rod? To me, a car guy is a car guy whether it be hotrod/streetrod/antique/sportscar/truck or whatever.
There are typically more differences between the owners than the cars... Whyinhell did we let tech week end???
Once again... hot rod- built for speed with minimal thought to driver comfort or looks.1930-present street rod- built for speed, looks, and tall trophies; usually seen on trailers; emphasis on driver comfort and looks. 1975-present. You got called a 'street rodder', huh?
Car Club: NSRA & GOODGUYS That's entirely possible...... Mr. Harris...it doesn't matter what the difference is unless you let it matter. Mutt
Hey, I get called a 'lowrider' all the time cuz I'm Mexican-is that the same thing? Maybe I should throw up a post called 'What's the difference between a kustom and a lowrider?' (answer: lowrider is the person, not the car)
If you care that someone called your car a hotrod, you're a street rodder. Oh, and if your car has anything billet on it and you didn't machine it yourself or buy beer for the guy who did, it's a streetrod.
The late Vernon Walker defined a street rod as a non-racing hot rod and that's what wound up in the dictionary. Go look it up.

Things look so much better since I took off my gl***es!! I like the toolbox/cooler comparison. but I don't think to much of " the paid with beer." I get my best mileage when I'm running on Guinness and then the gl***es don't matter.
You mean like the alcohol convention where the presidents of Bud,Miller and Guinness go out to dinner? The president of Bud orders a Bud,the president of Miller orders a Miller and the president of Guinness orders a Coke. The waiter expresses surprise and asks why. The president of Guiness says,"Well if these gentlemen aren't having a beer,I don't see why I should either".
