Looking to do a tribute clone of Vic sr's 32 Ford roadster.

Last time I saw the car it was in the Peterson museum. where is it now? bak at Edelbrocks company?

    Any way

I want to do a tribute clone as close to the origonal as I can but with a few exceptions..... I want a halibrand rear, A 57 pontiac 347 tripower and a 55 pontiac dual range hydro.

I have read Bishop and Tardels How to build traditional Ford Hot rods.

what else should I be reading,

    who sells good repro parts?

Also, who does an exact repro of a 32 frame?

I have asked around and keep getting people who want me to do a belly ****on small block chevy with od and mustange ifs tubular k/x members. Not going that route.

anybody doing a similar one maybe a caddy or olds version?

Any help or advice would be greatly welcomed!!!!

    Thanks

Its a great looking car, no reason to do an exact replica.
Edelbrock corp has a large car collection, its probably back at their facility.
It would help to find a member here with that engine in a 32 frame for some measurements and mounting info to get your frame close. Do you have the engine or body?

Not really a clone with what you're doing, make it your car and stamp your own style on it, use the search ****on, it will become your best friend, endless threads on traditional build deuces.

Right. I still don't get why anyone would want to build the exact same car someone else already did-unless it was for a museum and the original did not exist any longer. I have seen some great ones done and,Lord knows, there are more Milner Deuces and General Lees than you can shake a stick at. But, still, all that work, I'd rather have it be mine. Good luck.

exactly. I fell in love with it but will make mine my own, starting with a 347 Pontiac and the dual range hydro

I already have the engine and the trans

    I'm looking at Brookville body

I have done a search, within HAMB and not much comes up but when I google it a lot more within HAMB comes up WTF?

    Thanks

    keep the advice coming

  7. That is Bill Likes roadster, it set many records, but not the car being talked about here.

The one being talked about is Vic Edelbrock Sr's roadster which he ran in the 1930s, was a test bed for his ealry speed equipment and won the 1941 SCTA points championship. Later sold to Ed Bosio who rebuilt it and won AMBR in 1956. Vic jr bought it back 10 or so years ago and restored it back to its prewar livery.

Just build the best Deuce you can. Your exceptions throw it way outside being a clone or tribute.

And then Vic had Brizio build a Clone as well. They keep the original looking like when it was raced and the Clone like when it was a street car....

The clone was actually built first. After it was complete Vic got a lead and purchased the original car. I haven't seen the clone in its current state, sounds cool.

I was scrolling down the page reading answers and yours is exactly what I wanted to say. I can't see wanting to build a clone of an existing car that is the same as that car or as close as you can get. On the other hand building a clone of a car that had history behind it but no longer exists or no longer exists in the form you intend to clone is ok in my book. A tad strange but ok.

I walked around a show last year with I think three different clones of the Milner coupe in various stages of accuracy and they flat didn't spin my wheels. A car with high influence from a famous hotrod but sill having it's own distinct personality however spins my wheels to no end.

    Yea, kinda do Huh?

    But re read my post......Did they have '57 Pontiac v8's and 55 hydro's in 47?....in Vic's 32?

So really its not the same,

all kidding aside. almost every time I talk to a frame guy I get the standard lecture about SBC's OD ******'s and IFS.

some frame vendors cannot over come their disdain for anything but belly ****on cars even to the point of loosing a sale.
