I want to run a 40's front spring on the rear on my model A build. I have been searching and found a few threads but seems like everyone using them with a banjo rear end. I want to put one of these springs with a old Ford 9" so I will need to make some brackets for the spring. Do you have any photos if you have done something similar? Does anyone make these brackets? Any advice on doing this that I should know about? Thanks! Craig
Hi you can get these from most hotrod stores I got these from SoCal speed shop in Vegas they come in whatever I.D you need for your diff
The problem that I se with this swap is that a front spring leaves are not as wide or as long as a rear spring. All of the commercially made brackets are for the wider rear leaf springs.
Here's my coupe!!! 2" wide 40 front spring mounted to a '69 Bronco 9" rear axle with a Pete & Jake rear spring mounting kit with 2 1/4" wide shackles. You don't have to cut your hangers, just add a couple of flat washers the same OD as the spring bushings (one on each side to keep the spring centered) and no one will ever know. The spring mounts are located on 42 1/2" centers. I also used Pete & Jake ladder bars and rear shock kit...
Here's another famous rear end... (I hope B*** won't mind me posting this???) He fabricated his spring mounts from '36 rear radius rods...Neat!!!
are any of the leafs removed to soften front spring?.. or build it andremoved to adlust spring later? wouldnt that mess up how shackles will be hanging?
