Looking at a th350 today13 bolts, pan shape is like 350 vacuum modulator kick down cable. But driver side has a two wire plug that I was told was a lock down for the converter. If so are they any better than a standard 350
They're good for fuel economy. If you score a good deal, run it. Kind of a PITA to make it work, though: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249114&highlight=th350+lock+up
They are called a 350C with the lockup feature. You gain about 300 or so RPMs with the converter locked. It will work like a regular TH350 if you don't wire it up.
The lock up converter really only helps mileage if you have ultra long rearend gears like 2.29s or something...that's what they were invented to work with
Had one in an OT truck, converter would sometimes lock and not unlock! Like trying to drive with a clutch that doesn't disengage, scary! KK
