I just picked up a set of steel wheels for my 29 model A and can't decide what color I want to paint them. Any ideas? Debating between red or black.

Any color as long as it is black.

It looks like it is in great shape! a little elbow grease and some wax and she should be purdy

  8. Why paint them? The patina matches the rest of the car. Or did you mean a different set of wheels than the ones in the picture? What type of wheels do you have, I would hate to tell you black only to find out you had a set of polished mags. Remember if you use late wheels on the mechanical brake drums (it looks like that is what you probably have in that car) YOU NEED TO MODIFY THE DRUMS OR GET A SPACER OR THE WHEELS WILL FALL OFF.

I just bought a set of steelies for it just so I can put a more modern tire on the car. I haven't heard anything about putting spacers on the rims. I'll have to look into it

  12. Read this and make up your own mind. I was once riding in a friend's car and the wheel fell off. I think this was the problem he had but it has been 50 years ago so I can't check.

Since you asked "any ideas?", I'm going to say neither black or red. Ford had a wheel color for the Model A's called "straw". I think I'd use that. It's kind of a cross between cream and tan.

Thanks. Yea I was also thinking about after I made the post. By the way the car will have just black wall tires. Not having any luck finding white walls

Black goes with anything. (Ask any woman) Wheel colour depends on finished body colour. If you're not going to paint that body - then red won't go with the existing blue. Just my personal opinion.

If the weather here ever warms up enough to paint the wheels for my Model A are going to get a coat of "Wimbleton White".

I really like the wheels that are on it but you gotta do what you gotta do.
