I am planning on a 302 for my 40 Ford coup project. What exhaust manifolds would work on this swap? Would like to keep stock exhaust manifolds, but unsure on clearances for the frame. I am going to run a C4 trans , so no clutch linkage to worry about on clearance. Also, I am using Ch***is Engineering , IFS kits with Mustang II upper/lower control arms etc. If not stock manifolds, then what header company makes a good fit for this swap??
Thanks for any ideas from guys that have run this swap in 37-40 Ford coups.

The only headers I could find that fit my '37 coupe are fox body Mustang. Original manifolds for Aussie '67 to '70 Falcons work also.

I have used stock Ford manifolds on both my '38 and my '36 Fords from a mid-90's Ford
pickup with the 5.0 motors. They both worked very well in the '35-'40 ch***is.
The part numbers cast on the manifolds are F3TE-9430-JA and F3TE-9431-JA.
Oh, and both those cars have Mustang II front suspensions.

cbillelder.....thanks for the tip on Ford part numbers. I wonder if the same from Mustang bodies would work? also, is the F3TE-9430and 31- JA actually stamped on the manifolds???

Yes, those numbers are cast right on the outside face of the manifolds. If you like, I can send you some pictures of them if you will send me your email address. Mine is cbillelder@comcast.net I don't know if Mustangs used the same manifolds, but I sort of doubt it.

cbillelder..... got some more questions for you on your rides. I'm wondering about the firewall mods I will have to do with this 302 swap? Were you able to keep the stock firewall on yours??? Did you go with a C4 trans? any clearance issues with that???
Oil filter clearances on the front left side? And then what water pump did you use. I have heard an out fit by the name of "snow white" makes a short snout water pump for the 302. Did you use it???
    Thanks for any info.

Yes, 90's Mustang. I had a problem with steering on the right side so you might have the same with left hand steering.

Steve, if you don't have a motor, look for a 92 93 Thunderbird, or 95 96 Explorer 5.0 engines. Each are roller motors with short front housing and water pump. The TB will have an AOD with it. These motors have no provision for a fuel pump, electric pump required.
