Well I just got home from my second trip from Central MO to Aubrey TX. I purchased several English Fords from Mark Boltjes. I tried to hire out the shipping of them, but nothing ever panned out, so I rented a 20 foot trailer 2 weeks ago, and my 15 year old son and I headed out. It was a hard 9hr drive, and mostly on hwy 69 in OK, the worst road I have ever driven on!!! we arrived in Aubrey at about 9:30 am, and the gate was still locked, but we could see the gliiering of old chrome, and glass down the hill behind the tree line. We were like 2 kids waiting for an amusement park to open!. Finally Mark arrived and let us in, as we headed down the hill we started seeing many cool old cars setting everywhere, then we spotted the ones we were after, a 1948 Thames, and a 1948 Prefect. I was so excited to have found another 48 Thames. The Prefect at first was just going to be parts for the Thames, but way to nice and complete to part out. Mark was great, he had a skid loader and lots of experience loading old cars. We got loaded pretty quick, and made a couple fast laps around the yard snapping pics, and spying more cars I love to have in the process. We were back on the road to MO by 11 am.

Once I got back home and unloaded, I started looking through the pictures I took, and the second Prefect that was there was still haunting me, as it had some parts on it that I wanted and needed for the other 2 cars. So I called up Mark, and we struck a deal on it. So then just less than 2 weeks later, I rented a trailer again, and my wife and I took off for the third car! Again, hwy 69 in OK sucks!!! We couldnt get off it fast enough. Again we arrived in Aubrey around 9:30 am. My wife was even excited seeing some of those cars, she loves VW's and Falcons. That Prefect was a little more challengeng to load, but after a couple hours it was loaded and boomed down. He had sold a several vehicles that had been there the week before, but still lots of cool stuff left. We had a nice visit with Mark, and he walked us around the place again. We took more pictures and then were on our way again home. We almost Stopped by Nostalgia Sids block party, but were were beat, so straight home we went.

Now I'm going through pictures again, and thinking of buying another car or 2. Its so neat to see this old stuff, and its basically non existant here in MO any more. I'm already buying and ordering parts for my Thames, and hoping to get the energy to start on it soon. The niceest Prefect will probably get a late 4cyl, or V6 and be my wifes driver, and my son wants the body of the other to build a gasser style car someday. Anyway here are some pictures from our adventure, and yes the cars and parts on the ground are all for sale!!!

  9. Great article ! Thanks for sharing your adventure and a glimpse of the Texas Honey Hole. Thank you for buying the cars and it was great meeting you and your family. I'm very happy you got the English Fords and I know you will build some damn nice cars out of them.

    Thanks again Rusty

I am in need of the trim piece that mounts to hood above grille on 1948 and earlier Prefect .Thought you might have some pieces from your Anglia front end conversion. If so please let me know if you want to sell. Thanks

Great story and nice photos. I'd bet that Aubrey Texas has been hitting Google maps big time today.
