Geoff, that fuel tank on the roadster looks like one of those hemorrhoid tanks as I call them, not an original 32 tank. I think Tony's just playing with wheels! Coupe is looking good. Every time I think of you two in the garage brewing up another hot rod, how could it not cause a smile. great to see, keep the updates coming.

  3. Hey Tommy full hand of aces for me, but the more I look the more it looks great either way. The stance is key to that I guess as well. I have always been a white wall guy but that's the beauty of this hobby there is really no wrongs or rights. I would be interested to hear Tony's opinion on the wheel selection as well???

Hey guys thanks for the responses.
Yeah we had a big weekend playing with our toys in the dirt, lots of wheel changes.
I knew there would be lots of differing opinions on the combinations, but we had a great time doing it.
As usual we never got as much done on The Last Grasp Special. But the change of direction on the front more than makes up for not getting as much welding done on the chop, as we were hoping to get done.

  6. LOVE the mags & slicks on the 3 Window! Now you just need to paint it some obnoxious, in-your-face 60's colour

mmmmmm, it's gone quiet in here again.
I guess it needs a kick start.
As Tony has been here the last 5 days I haven't had much time to do stuff here on the computer.
However one of the reasons he is here, was because he wanted to drag me along to the recent reliability run organised by Corey, Wayne and Dave.
This little adventure for Tony, myself and my usually reliable coupe was planned around 5 weeks ago.
I said to Tony at the time that I didn't want to take the coupe with the 5 spokes on it. So I did a wheel swap.

OK the coupe was already to go about a month ago.
But in the meantime I would be going down to Rita and Tony's, which happened last weekend. So I will give a brief account of Tony's and my adventures over the last 9 days.
When Tony's goes I will give a more detailed account on this nine days.
The Saturday that I was at Rita and Tony's, friends ( Jenny and Ted ) were over this way from Perth. They had organised to spend the day with us at Rita and Tony's. Of course Ted had to have a run in the roadster.

Then on the Sunday we started messing around and mocking up The Last Grasp Special with the 37/38 Willys hood.

On Sunday evening, Rita, Tony and myself went out to Renee' and Sam's to have dinner.
Of course after dinner we went out into the garage. It was good to see Renee' unique lil sport coupe uncovered. If I remember I will do a post on Renee's hot rod.

On the Monday Tony and I got a bit of welding done on the chop of our 3w.

On the Tuesday, Tony and I just messed around out in the garage, just doing bits and pieces.
That afternoon at around 4.00 p.m. Tony and I said our goodbyes to Rita and headed east to Moe.
We had a bit of drama with the pickup on the outskirts of Melbourne. We did a front wheel bearing at around 7.30 p.m. But fortunately Tony had his mobile phone. As luck would have it, a relative of Rita and Tony lived close by. So 20 minutes later Shane came to our rescue and with in an hour or so we were on our way again.
The following couple of days we did all soughts of stuff, including unearthing my roadster. After driving the Victoria out of the garage, it was a bit of an archaeological hot rod dig to find the roadster.

So yesterday Tony and I attended the reliability run.
We had organised to meet up with our good friend Steve at a service station near Calder Park.

A bit of the information on the directional sheets given out to all those that attended was 'If you get lost call us ....... we might be lost too!
Well that happened. But fortunately we didn't ring.

Well it was the reliability run and unfortunately the coupe had a few reliability issues on the run.
But I would like to thank all those that offered advice, gave parts and pieces, but mostly importantly gave hands on help.
I will go into a bit more detail about our dramas when I do a post in the reliability run thread.

  20. Great to see the shuffling of the cars, experimenting with ideas, and stoked that you guys made it along to the Black Forrest run.

    Geoff and Tony,

Was a pleasure to have you attend our event, I hope you both had some fun, I know you caught up with a few people you haven't seen for a while and I'm sure that made for a great day. Breakdowns aside, even they can be fun if you have the right people to spend the time with.

    cheers Corey

  22. Seconded. Thanks for coming along Tony and Geoff. Was really good to see you both there.

Geoff, I didn't realise my words on the map would be so prophetic....I just thought I was being comedic when I changed it for this one!

Wow, that Willys hood looks right at home there - stick with it

  24. The 5 Window looks good with the red steelies. It's amazing how much a simple wheel and tyre change can completely alter the attitude of a car (not better or worse, just different). Nice to have options, that way you can basically have a whole heap of different cars all rolled into one. Can't wait to hear about your shenanigans over the long weekend.

Thanks guys for all the comments on the last series of posts I have done. I am still not quite ready to do the series of posts from my weekend at Rita and Tony's a couple of weekends ago. However all the written notes are nearly done. So hopefully this weekend I can make a start.
As I said in a post above, Tony and I went on the recent reliability run organised by Corey, Wayne and Dave. Last night I made a number of posts on that thread, giving a brief description of Tony's, my and my coupe's Saturday adventure that went into Sunday. Along with a bunch of images.
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=869966

If Tony has looked at that thread I can hear him saying, 'Geoff you should have had your camera on the '59 setting. So Tony here are a few old timey shots just for you.

Really enjoyed catching up with you and Tony on the run.
I really like following you thread and seeing what you and Tony are up to as well as the build on the coupe.
    Rocky.

Geoff, I really like the shots from 1959 they really look like the old days. Rocky how good was it just talking about the old times we had and about the 1955 cusso and the pursuit motor it had in it. I am trying to get over all the pain in my back and thinking how much of a blast I had with Geoff and all my mates over the last few weeks. Today is my birthday and just waiting for my grand kids to come over this afternoon. also thanks Corey Wayne and Dave for the run it was great. Shane good to see you on the pages of wisdom and the abone looks really kool with that mill full of all those jugs on top......Tony.
