I have been pulling my hair out with this project. I have a 1954 Hudson Jet 2 dr I have installed a chevy 350 with a 700r4 trans and a S-10 rear end. The front brakes needed to be updated. I bought a speedway in the floor power brake unit. I then grafted 1988 chevy caprice front disc brakes to the Hudson.
Problem : after driving the car for several miles the front brake start to drag and over heat and the pedal gets very hard. Once the car is stopped an shut off if the pedal is pumped so as to release the vacuum in the booster the pads free up. For some reason as the brakes are used the vacuum builds up in the booster and keeps pressure on the brakes . I am going bald anyone have any ideas before I loose all my Hair . Thanks in advance

Did you install residual pressure valves between the master cylinder and the front calipers? Did the master cylinder have residual pressure valving in it already? Is the master cylinder mounted lower than the calipers?

the push rod on your master cylinder is a fraction of a inch to long. Simple as that.

Thanks for the reply, yes I do have the residual valves and yes the master is lower than the calipers . The master is a low profile Corvette. I have backed off the rod to the master and that gives a long pedal. I'll drive it and see what happens.

    Thanks
