That is my son on the pickture. The cowl is Ford model A 29 and it is rather comfy inside. No problems to ride a few houres without stop.

Farna, I wanted to clear up some info on the Ford 144/170/200/250 Aussie head swap. There are actually 3 different heads that that can be swapped onto this series of engines.

The first is known as the 2V head; this was a 12 port non-cross-flow cast iron head w/ a bolt-on cast aluminum 2 barrel intake for the Aussie 250, made from 1970-76. This can be run on any of the U.S. sixes with minor changes in pushrod length and maybe a shave for comp. ratio. Using the early 144 adjustable rocker arm set-up can help in fine tuning the valve train, but overall, this is a bolt-on set-up. Maybe $500-900 for a head and intake, depending. Lynx made intakes #189 to run three S.U. side-drafts, and #190 to run three Weber two barrels, almost like fuel injection. Some 2V intakes have been modified to take a square-bore 4 barrel carb, as well. Any stock U.S. exhaust manifold or tube headers will work w/ the 2V head.

Lynx also made another manifold for the cast intake head where the stock intake is machined off, mounting holes are drilled and tapped, and this three/one side-draft intake is bolted onto the modified stock head.

The second Aussie head is the one you referenced; it is a 12 port cross-flow for a late '70's-1980's 250 block style. This is not a bolt-on conversion, as new head bolt holes have to be drilled and tapped, along with sorting out the valve train, coolant ports, etc. It can be done, but its a challenge. You could spend more to convert it than it cost to buy and ship. Later versions of this engine went to an OHC design.

Finally, Ford Six Performance Products, in AZ, brought out a new 12 port non-cross-flow head design based on the old 2V head, with much improved porting and air flow. These are new cast aluminum heads, fully machined, that will bolt onto any of the U.S. small Ford sixes. They will work with any of the 2V intakes, and FSPP offers new intakes for this head as well. They're not cheap, but you're not having to recondition a well-used part, either.

    Later, Kinky6
