I don't know if anyone else here enjoys reading road trip threads as much as I do. I've seen a few pop up. I'm curious to know if they are organized on a sticky like some of the build threads are. Anyone keeping track?
Road trips with friends are always good. Even the ones that don't go so well are great because those are the ones you remember the most and usually make great stories. I have a relatively boring life but I have had a few very memorable car related road trips. Some were hundreds of miles and numerous days, some were across town and only took a few hours. Some involved dirt back roads, guns and even murder.
Ya might check some of C9's threads, he could make a trip to the local Stop and Rob interesting. The guy could write, still miss his influence here.
The trip to where ever we may be going is usually the best part when the club goes to a show. Granted my truck usually breaksdown in some way shape or form, or we get pulled over creepin around in the van. Either way always a blast, and makes for great stories.
Hitting the hiways in a vintage car is just wonderful. In fact, it is the only way I travel. If you get a chance to do it, well- do it! I've made dozens of 2-4,000 road trips and 2 'super' road trips over 10,000miles each. Not sure if anyone has traveled that far or that long. A 10,400 trip was done in 30 days. Another was 10,800 and took 7 weeks. The second one was much nicer and relaxed. Problem is most friends cannot get away for that long. having the net with you and using message boards does wonders. I cannot remember how many 'welcomes' I got from people around the country and met me for a bite to eat, etc. People are really nice on the road. So far, have been through 47 states at least once, along with several parts of Canada too, driving vintage cars. Montana and Alaska and other portions of Canada are on my list for my next extended road trip. I have to break my own 10,800 record! Maybe in a few years after some other goals are reached. Oh, I find the best times of year to make these big trips is in the fall. Enjoy
