The tow truck driver said " here's your cream puff." when he dropped it in my drive. It's a running driving 37 frame with a 60 hp flatty. It has a 35 cowl , front fenders, hood and nothing else, no wiring nothing .So first thing I need to do is get it running so I can drive around to piss off the neighbors. So I hooked up a charger and tried to start her up. It turned over but no spark , this is my first flathead so I'm glue less. I talked to Sid the guy I bought it from and he gave me a different diving helmet style distributer and wires to try. Lined it up and bolted it on. Put on a new switch hit the starter ****on and she has spark. But no fuel , I disconnected the fuel line and the pump is working ,so the stromberg 81 needs a rebuild. The water pumps are frozen ,I ordered rebuild kits from vanpelts. Mac was very helpful trying to school me over the phone . So if anyone can tell me how to get the water pumps out I would appreciate it . Pictures and lots more to come.
the water pumps are part of the motor mounts, were the rad hoses go to the pumps, inside the pump there,s a bolt take it out,and rest of the bolts the pump should come right off
I have a cut up rusty five window to use as a starting point but this could go any direction. I'll be stealing ideas from your thread koolkemp , its guys like you that make me think I can put this back together.
does anyone have the measurements for the floors or maybe a car near Fort Worth that i can measure my self?
Very cool! Lots to work with, measure lots and just tack it all together till you are happy.I would offer to measure my 2 door carc*** for ya but its as bad or worse than yours lol!
starting with a fiber gl*** tail pan I made a paper pattern , then cut out the basic shape in metal. I made templates and drew a grid to use as a guide for the templates. then off to the english wheel and bead roller
heres a look at the the missing tail end of cream puff. I ran out of day so I'll have to trim it up and break out the tig welder tommorrow
With inspiration from all the craftsmen on the HAMB The build continues First a paper pattern is made of the sub frame and cut out. I try to make left and right parts at the same time. A trick I learned from Lazze. I used my bead roller to turn the flange. The edges will need to be shrunk to make the panel flat again. I bent this edge on my brake I bent the edges as I tig weld them together And here is the two sub rails after a little sanding to clean them up. Ted Bauer
