Hey folks, I need a little help with wheel sizing...I think I'm over-thinking it....not funny right? Anyway, I have a 62 t bird and would like to put skinny whites on with supremes. I have the whites in mint condition,(205-75-14's) and the rims I have on are 14x5" x 5 bolt pattern x3.5 backspace. Now, the only closest rims that I found are 14x6" x 5 bolt pattern by 3.75 backspace. My question is will that rim fit my tire? And should I be concerned with the backspace with the wider rim? and....there is the same rim for sale just with less of a backspace (2.75"). Is that the right one? Sorry for confusion but I **** at numbers. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Lee
14X6/3.75 backset will work fine with those wheels. 5-7" is the recommended wheel size for that size tire
The wheel has 2 sides Your back space is 1/4 " less than the new wheel you are looking at- the new wheel will ride 1/4" closer on the inside as a result (towards center of car) Your current wheel is 1" narrower than the new one you are looking at - factoring in the 1/4" more backspace, the new wheel will ride 3/4" closer to the wheel lips (away from center of car) Total 1" wider
