1929 Ford Axle

    I have a 1929 Ford ,can I use the front axle that it was born with?I don't know just what motor I'll use yet but will it be strong enough for a V-8. I was told the metal was not strong enough? I

    Yes it is stronger than any replacement you can buy new, ***uming that it hasn't been buried in chicken poop and is seriously rusted. Whoever told you the metal is not strong enough is someone you should never listen to again.

    Well I'm sorry to say it was my Nephew who owns a Metal Fab. Shop in Huston.:rolleyes: He said that the metal was soft and lead me through a Metal Cl*** 101. So the Rear end will stand some Torque as well? Ok I'll do the intro. I just fill odd doin that sort of thing.

    A stock Model A rear axle is a whole different story than the front. I don't know how much one will take, but if you generate any kind of horsepower at all you'll want to drive it like an old lady if you want a stock rear axle to survive.
