RM Auctions just sold this car for $319,000.00 (1932 Ford Cabrio) http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1063787
Beautifully done '32 does honor to the original Ford version. Given the history I can understand why a wealthy collector would pay the bucks to have this one.
That is one great looking car with a wonderful restoration. I did read somewere maybe on The Ford Barn that it was for sale for years unrestored in Italy for $10,000, and someone finally stepped up and bought it. Bob
Car is awesome. I hope all early fords start going for 6 figures, I just want to buy a few more first.
^^^^ If Money was no object we'd be in a bidding war. That is one great looking car. Wonder if it is the camera angle or the front fenders are reshaped. They look a bit like a 28-29 the way the roll forward. Bob
And who styled the 1933 Ford in the end? Dagenham! Ford ended up scaling the 1932 English Model-Y up to US size and used the '32 British styling for '33.
As the story goes..The car is believed to be the only Cl***ic Era Ford built with custom coachwork by Pinin Farina. Ford Motor Company commissioned this car from the Italian coachbuilder as a styling study when they were considering options for the production 1933 Fords. Starting with a American-built 1932 Ford Model 18 ch***is, its design shows the influence of Pinin Farinas earlier Lancias, with a sweeping beltline and smartly tailored roof. HRP
Oh that made me laugh. But was he serious? Can't be sure these days. Education isn't what it used to be. Twitter @edsrodshop
I'm an idiot but although it is pretty I'll take a 3 window any day of the week. I don't know how to relate to money is no object. Give me one that ran at Bonneville and was made in America.
Considering the popularity of the Deuce, it's no surprise a "One of one" version went for that kind of money... I would love to see someone Photoshop it into a Hot Rod just for fun!
