32 18", 33-4 17", 35 16", Kelsey Hayes, etc. wire wheels will all cover windows. More important thing to me is that 32-35 drum/hubs have support nubs for wire wheels. Using anything but wires will require them to be ground off.

Very inspiring! I try to keep the mechanical brakes on my new project also. I didn´t prefer the looks of the 4" dropped axle. Carter´s fabulous build braught me to the 32-36 axles. Works perfectly well with 32´perches, Model A spindles and steering. No modifications needed as far as i can see after the first mock up.

Them's the ones. Remember, you will use stock Model A spindles, kingpins, and actuators with those, not the Model 48 stuff, but will need to use the '35 operating pins with bottom cupped. You can also use '32-'24 spindles.

  9. So, let me get this straight.....

35 stuff from the backing plate out.
    Model A spindles,kingpins, keeper pins,actuators.

Can all this be used on a 35 axle with 32-34 spring perches? Want to use the axle because it already has some factory drop over the A axle!

Also, planning on using an unsplit A wishbone.

Will it all work together? Please tell me yes.......

Yes to '35 stuff from b.p. out.
Yes to Model A (or '32-'34) spindles.
Yes to Model A kingpins, keeper pins, actuators.

I do not know about using the '35 axle...never had one in my hands. Somebody who knows more will chime in, but I doubt the spacing of the perch bosses are the same. The axle in your pic looks wider than a Model A so front track would be affected. It also may look too massive on your car.

Any 32-6 axle will work fine.

    Thanks, Carter.
If you use Model A wishbone (2 1/4" perch boss) do you need spacer(s) for '32-'36 axles w/ 2" bosses?

    Found this oldie:

The different types of early Ford axles are easy to identify by referring to the picture on the right, which was scanned from an old magazine article that was written by Neal East.

The 1928-1931 Model A axles have a uniform curve from end to end. The spring perch bosses are 2 1/4 inches.

1932 axles were the first Ford axles to be made with a slight drop. These axles are often referred to as '32 heavy axles. They are unique among early Ford axles in having a wider recess at the ends, and a slightly raised area on the front and back of the spring perch bosses in the shape of an I-beam. The spring perch bosses are two inches.

The '33-'36 axles have narrower recesses at the ends and along the center compared to the '32 axles. The spring perch bosses are two inches.

The 1937 V8-60 axles the only early Ford axles that are hollow forgings. They are flat along the front and back, so their cross-section resembles an oval track with short straightaways. They are relatively lightweight and not recommended for heavier cars. Their spring perch bosses are 2 1/4 inches.

Yes, a spacer is required at the perch boss.

  14. So, will the Model A actuators work with the 35 axle and 32-34 perches?

Looking very good the only thing I would change is the pitman arm is hanging down a bit and you may experience " Bump Steering " and or something hitting it while driving. I think it's below the scrub line. JMO
