Do you have to be invited in order to Be in any cackel fest? I am looking to build a 60's jr fueler....... Thanks
Of the ones I know of . . . yes. You'll need to send whoever is running it pictures of your dragster if they don't get a chance to see it in person. The smaller events are easier to get in, I'm sure the NHRR/CHRR events are pretty strict.
Go to the nhra museum web site and print out a cackle fest entry blank.we here in Texas would be glad to have you at our events . We have two events at Ardmore OK. that should be sorta close to you . Check the Ardmore web sit for dates. dwrfab Don Ross
Go to the "We did it for love" website and contact Don Ewald. Don seems to be the leader of these events.
Yes the rules are pretty sticky, they want period correct push start rails, one thing that is puzzling is a lot of the cars are new but appear original. So if you build one from scratch and it looks old... It will qualify as there are a hand full of recreated rails out there now.....let's say 2012 build but looks like 1960's ..... Pretty cool to say the least
i hate to say, but in many cases they want cars with history. or reproductions with history from the original car. like said above talk to mr. ewald, he knows the whole scoop.
I witnessed an accident at the Hotrod Reunion in Bolling Green Ky some years ago. A dragster slipped into gear pinning someone. We are talking veteran cars and drivers. Accidents can happen. The NHRA are very touchy since that happened. In that case there were too many unauthorized people in the car area. I won't forget it. If you're not a seasoned builder or driver, tread lightly.
At an event that the car club I use to with had a FED on display and for cackel show. It's drive shaft will call it was removed. No coupler in place.
Our car show is also having a cackle fest Thursday night July 21st in Casselton North Dakota from 5pm to 9pm please let me know if anyone is interested in attending
