Hi all. I just purchased this diff and I was surprised to see the GM flanges on it. What I'm finding is there seems to be no clear cut choice on a brake kit. I am very new to this part of building a car and I am looking for some guidance. Easiest just to install new flanges and move on to readily available kits? Maybe find a good set of backing plates and just do a drum brake kit in the rear? Repercussions of using drum brakes and finding axles that will bolt in? Really kind of looking for the simplest idea and I will run with it Axle is 41" flange to flange so I need custom axles either way. Advice? Jeff P/S it'll be a street car so I need e brakes

Back in the day the OLDs bearing flanges were popular because they offered the largest bearing 3.150. The newer large Ford flange has the same bearing size, however the bearing to axle flange offset is different between the two. so ordering brakes must include the bearing flange type in order to get the right brakehat offset and caliper mounts
Thanks for that info guys. The Wilwood start at $650. Think they will do fine. Thanks for the background too Jeff
