A buddy of mine has a '51 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup with the original six hole flatty...I know these trucks are a bit odd shaped and funky looking, but he's got his mind made up that he's keeping it and building it. Plans are flipping both axles, notching front & rear frame, channelling the body, '56 Chevy PU rear fenders, shaving, and some custom grille/headlight treatment. This truck will be done on a tight budget and will be driven, used, and abused...so bodywork & shiny paint won't be an issue. Function over Form...with a little bit of flare just to make it look better and more proportional. I'm wondering if you guys have ever seen this body style customized or just cleanly done...Any pics and or info would be great. Thanks!
Heres one example. MoPar V8, 727, Ford 8" and Volare front torsion suspension. Tex Smiths "How to build Mopar hot rods" has a tech article on putting one of these front ends in the early Dodge trucks. http://www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/rrow/rr050305a.JPG Heres a mild make over: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.westcoastsportscars.com/images/tommys/51dodge1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.westcoastsportscars.com/51dodge.html&h=516&w=750&sz=83&tbnid=XcyUZV1jm_gJ:&tbnh=96&tbnw=140&hl=en&start=22&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1951%2BDodge%2Btruck%26start%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26rls%3DGGLG,GGLG:2005-24,GGLG:en%26sa%3DN
