I'm lucky I wasn't drinking some coffee when I read your post or it would be all over the computer screen now, that's totally sick!! I laughed for a minute and a half! Yeah, Bob's became Shoney's and know I can't remember what it is.
I grew up in Van Nuys CA. I remember those stickers well. I also remember the In-N-Out burger stickers, that we would re-form into In-N-out URGE stickers. I also remember the McDonald's coffee stirrers, that resembeled small s****s,that became favored with coke sniffers,in the 80's Ahh, the days of missuse, defacing of company property, without the threat of a lawsuit.Sparky
I happen to have one of the In-And-Out decals on the fire wall of my modified and no one has even said anything about it.
We used to have a Big Boy here in Denver. It was called Azar's Big Boy. It was the only one I ever remember being here. They used to have the Big Boy statue out front. When I was a senior in high school, we had a courtyard in the center of the building. It was surrounded by the hallways, and you could only get in there through the building. Anyway, one Monday morning toward the end of the year, we all got to school and there was Big boy standing in the middle of the courtyard! It was all over the news that on Friday night Big Boy had been "kidnapped". It was a pretty funny senior prank, but our principal was mad as hell. We had a special seniors only ***embly and got our ***es chewed. The school made a big deal out of it (and looking back now, I understand--liabilities, lawsuits, theft, etc.), but Azar's was just happy to get Big Boy back undamaged. I never did find out who the mystery pranksters were! BTW, our senior pranks didn't end there. A few weeks later there was a Fiat X1/9 found in the courtyard on Monday morning! No one could ever figure out how somebody got it in there because the only access to it was through single doors. The school had to get a crane to lift it out of the courtyard over the building and out to the parking lot. Needless to say, after that we were all threated that if we continued the "********" (the principal's exact words!) there would be no graduation. Everything was pretty quiet after that as far as senior pranks. Oh yeah, except for about two weeks before graduation. Our principal started getting phone calls at all hours of the day and night, at home and at the school about the brand new Mercedes in the Rocky Mountain News cl***ifieds for $1000 bucks! But that is another story................E
Our principal had a Bug. It was found in various places at different times. Crossways on the back of a pickup truck, blocking the main entry doors of the school at the top of the landing, On the stage in the auditorium, Balanced atop a brick wall, at the top of the bleachers, etc. He sold it and bought a 59 Caddy!
Rare decals on E-Bay? Woulda thunk they would be worth $? I just found a stack of decals I got from "Tubular Automotive" of Weymouth, MA back in early 70s when I bought a set of custom headers from them for my Poncho-powered '55 Chevy! They are in pretty good shape - do you think they're worth anything???
