An Edelbrock carb bolts on to a Hyperpak intake where a Holley will need an adapter. Get a junkyard turbo and intercooler, a blowthrough hat, boost referenced fuel pump, use a late Mopar electronic distributor and box and yer good to go. Won't make 500hp and live to tell about it, but it will be enough fun to keep a couple of old guys out of trouble. ;>)

This is injected on methanol slant six power with a 5 speed Lenco behind it for the last 12 years. The only breakage was a timing chain. Has a gear drive cam now.
It's had 3 engine combinations in it over that time. 2 of those engines are in other cars now. We have a turbo blow through combination going into the car later this year.

Hahaha, I thought you already had yours fleshed out? I will do mine with salvage yard goodies but only AFTER all the suspension tweaks....in other words....might be a while!

Look at www.inliners.org There are a couple of Super Charged and also a few Turbo'd. All sound like they took a bit of work but now are really working out.

Jeem, I have a draw through Buick system hanging on my shop wall if you would like to try going that way. It won't work in my configuration 'cause of hood clearence, but with that goofy falling over Mopar thingy it might just go!

Here is one that is discussed on www.inliners.org It sounds like power is amazing. I thought I'd share it with you.

  11. Those engines have a look that only it's Mother could love, but man, are they bulletproof in stock form. When I was in the Air Force in the '80s, a good buddy of mine bought a '71 Barracuda with a Slant 6 in it, and was planning to drop a stout 440 in it that he had already built. We decided (at a keg party, no less) to try and blow up the Slant 6 because nobody wanted it. We beat that poor engine mercilessly, even putting a brick on the gas pedal and leaving it floored for almost 30 minutes. We eventually stopped when all the chicks came out of the house and started bitchin' that we were being too loud and they couldn't hear the music over the sound of the engine. My buddy drove that car with the same engine in it for nearly a year afterward, and it ran like a top. I have been a fan of that design ever since. Amazing engine.

I think a turbo on a Slant 6 is kick-ass idea. I am subscribing to this thread.

Depends on the mega-squirt ECU. I bought a MS3_extra with the staged nitrous, the boost control outputs (for later). Rev limiter will be online when installed. Sd card for data-logging, usb for laptop hook up, Tunerstudio for seeing what is happening in the engine and correcting it.

I've been reading a lot, but am not a expert. I am middle aged with some vision problems at times, been a electrician since the 70s and have trouble soldering up the 37 pin plugs for the ecu, I bought ten of each if you need one. The lower is a female plug to plug into the male 37 pin on the ms3.

There is always a way around the "problem".. Kinda pricy but I found these terminal strip cards online, plug right into the megasquirt and then you can just strip and stick the cables right in. I plan on soldering ends to clean up connections.

There is only about twenty or so wires needed to run a engine. I cut 8lbs of wire out of the tpi harness I am using.

So far, I am loving it, simpler than a carburetor in the fact it can "tell you what is happening inside the engine". Regardless if you run a efi or not, you need a quality oxygen sensor to monitor gases.. this can tell you before you fry the good old motor. I used a plx transmitter and wideband sensor. It, gauge and all was around $200. Gauge does not match my old school dash, I am putting it under the dash.

My project is much more common. I've had some great results with the slant six thou. Wish you the best.
