Don't know the car but let's take all the guys that say you can't chop a 40 coupe and make it look good study this picture. That car is beautiful!
It seems many that chop a 40 eliminate the rain gutter, that's what ruins it for me. The quarter window loses it's flow so to speak and it looks unfinished. That being said, the coupe in question is done right and beautiful. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
I wonder if that is a redo of really nice one I saw 20+ years ago? Back then it was bright red with flames, a dealer in New York state had it at that time. Bob
I've seen it before at the James Dean / Ducktail run a couple years ago. It had skirts on it then. I have a picture on my phone but I am unable to upload it for some reason. I'll try later to post it when I get home.
It's difficult to improve the look's of Henry's beautiful lines but this is a well done chop. Most chopped 40's of all body styles end up looking like hack jobs.
Another guy who doesn't like chopped top '40 Fords. That particular one is obviously a well done, quality build. I still would prefer the same car, same quality of build, without the chopped top better..fact. To the OP, I don't know of this car either.
If I'm remembering right, there was a post on here earlier that the owner of that car had p***ed away. There were pictures of both the Coupe & Convertible in that thread.
The coupe was owned by a friend of mine Terry Stutsman when it was still in black primer. Terry sold it to Terry Roberts who finished it in the maroon. Terry Stutsman later bought it back finished, but as of last summer has since sold it again. Matt
There was a feature on this car in one of the early issues of Rodding USA. One of the better magazines to come along in awhile.
Removing the rain gutters from just about any car, especially 30's, 40's, or 50's in my opinion is like shaving off your eye brows.
