I just bought two Studebaker Pick up trucks. A 1946 M5 and a 1946 M5. I have attached a few pics of the trucks. The green truck is pretty solid. However the blue one is pretty rough. I am looking for a cab and running boards. If anyone has parts to sell or knows where I can find them, give me a shout out or point me in the right direction. The trucks are rough but I haven't even started on them yet. 2012-11-15 10.42.28.jpg

A local in my area is a Body Technician and is now working on his grandfather's '47 M-5. I thought you'd appreciate what coud be if you are so inclined. Those were sturdy and reliable trucks.

Thanks for the pics Norm. I am so excited about these trucks that I can't wait to get my hands on them. I am new to the HAMB. I'm hoping that it will lead me to some replacement parts that I need. Thanx again for the cool pix.

    Bstie,
I was surprised when I got the hood popped and found a small block ford v-8 under it. Unfortunately, the intake manifold and carb were stored in the cab and the block and rods etc are rusted tight. I was planning on trying to find a 289,302, or 351 that I can easily slip into the green truck. The blue truck is a bigger project and I am thinking something similar to your truck. I am initially planning on getting more modern suspension and brakes. Probably will lower it like you have done. I like your truck. What do you have under the hood?

Thanks, I have a small block chevy stroked to 383 and a t400 trans. I have air ride installed on the original ch***is. Lots of parts show up on the auction sites but they command big bucks. I have been looking for a decent pair of fenders for a long time finally ended up with the fibergl*** ones on the rear until I can find good steel ones. The green M5 looks pretty decent there are patch panels out there for those cab corners and cab floors too. I am trying to put together a build page for my truck to post here Just taking longer than I hoped. Good luck with those!

    Hi guys. New here.
My son and I are starting a 41 m5 project and we plan on keeping the little 6 but want to build it a little. I saw the pic above with the finned head with Studebaker on it. One of those would be cool! Know of any good sources for speed parts for the Champion 6?

Also want to lower it and keep the straight axle. But its lookin a little harder than you might think. Any suggestions?

  10. Love to have one for a shop truck

  11. Good score! Parts are a little hard to find, but it looks like you have a pretty good start with the green one. Lower it, skip the boards, and turn the rear fenders around. It's all they need! A little chop works too ;)

Be advised- many there are Stude purists. There are alot of hot rodders, too. But you won't find a more knowledgable group that knows old Studebaker trucks better.

If you see front grill pieces grab em! They're the hard parts to get!
I need window pane-to-wing window chromed divider bars if anyone has any!

  15. Old thread, I know, but I need some info.

    Just bought one sight unseen.
Need to grab a couple of wheels to move it.
Can anyone tell me what is the wheel stud pattern (PCD) ?
off to pick it up soon.

Lug pattern is 5 on 5. Same as the GM trucks and many GM big cars.

Is that the original frame or did you change it to lower it? I have a 1947 M5 that I'm interested in lowering and was curious about how to go about it.

The Front & Rear Fenders are the same and interchangeable. Pretty neat.

I had no stock rear fenders or a bed so I made the bed side's and tail gate.. I used rear fenders from a 52 Chevy truck... Both the front and rear fenders were cut to match the radius of the tire.. The rear fenders were widened 3 inch's I used 4 fender's to make 2.. Thanks for the complements ...John

I hope someone can post some photo of a lowered front end using the original front axle. Would like to see some options.
