Hello everybody, this is Mustsed, a 48 year old mechanic from Turkey, driving a '63 Fairlane 500 4 door and owning a '67 Mustang Hardtop. Both cars are either modified or still undergoing modifications. The Mustang has a polished&ported 5.0 with EFI, AOD transmission, Jaguar IRS, Cobra 13" disc brakes up front and Jaguar discs at the rear. Waiting for the EFI fuel system to be installed The Fairlane is fitted with granada discs up front, stock 170 cui engine and three on the tree ****** serving a 8" rear. Have done a 200 cui with a C4 waiting to be installed. Have also bought a Lay**** deNormanville overdrive (similar to GV) to help acceleration and top speed. Installed Grand cherokee front power bucket seats and changed the complete wiring. Looking for a center console inspiration that also hides the stereo.
Welcome. The old Fairlane is cool. You're telling on yourself by mentioning those buckets, though. Can you not hook an ipod device to the stock radio?
Maybe I could but then I also have to find a place to put the ipod in/on !?!?!?! The seats are so cool and give a better support then the stock bench, the power future is an unexpected show eyeball in her. Need to check more center console posts to get an idea so it is functional, usable and most important, period correct looking!! Found some plywood in the shop which did away with the "from what to make it". Playing with some ideas and hope to start it soon! Thanks for the reply, Erwin! Mustsed
Welcome Mustsed! You are the first HAMBer I've seen from Turkey. I would be interested to know what it is like in Turkey for cars. Is there any hot rod culture there? Are there many old cars? What kind?
Thanks for the welcome Saxman! Yes, there are quite a lot US cl***ic overhere, mostly in stock condition. The investment is to heigh and the parts have to be imported from the US which makes the maintaining a expensive one. We have a clup in town with ca. 45 US and 20 european cl***ics. The most presented US cl***ic is the Mustang beside the '55-'57 Chevy & '63/64 Impalas. There are very big collectors with over 600 cars (including Tucker, Edsel's, 28/29 Rolls Royce) in Istanbul. 4 big Museums are open to public with also alot US cars. Because of the European inspection system, customizing is not very easy and allowed. Thanks god the car database they use starts with the year '78 so we have a little playground with our cars. With $2.2 for a LITER of fuel, enjoyment of our cars is limited and everyone has a spare ricer at home. I do work on cl***ic Ford's, mostly Mustang's and drive a '63 Fairlane 500 4 door daily. I'm more the restomod guy who likes big brakes and modern wiring in all cars I mod. One example of my doing's is here; http://youtu.be/xAS19kJw7ZA Anything else you want to know, just ask! Mustsed
