I know guys who've left their 6v power windows and seat motors in place when converting to 12v and, despite operating really fast, have managed to not burn them out for quite a while now. The power seat is easier because you adjust it where you want and leave it there.

The windows are trickier. You want to use them in shorter bursts although you want to be careful around fully up or down. With a little practice it should be no problem.

If you really have to change them out look for some '56 Ford-Mercury window motors. They are 12v and should bolt right in. Although a little pricey you can find them at Mac's or on that auction site.

Although I haven't tried it myself, I believe a ballast resistor wired in-line would accomplish what you need.

i will try the resistor but have to check the motors first to see if they are ok. it has been sitting forever so they may have been damaged by water, snow, etc.. thanks a lot guys.

Surplus center in Nebraska has seat motors from later stuff . Might be able to convert to fit. And cheap. Also 12v wiper motors. Jack

I wound my own ballast resister out of 1/8" aluminum tig wire, then tapped into it at the point where it was showing 6v under load.

Thought there were some good things there. I bought 3 wiper motors , the 2 speed ones with switch. But the switch is attached to motor [didn,t know that].I adapted one to my 56. Get a catalog youll be amazed. The shipping seemed high but the will fill the box and it came out cheap. Jack
