Stunning car, but its considered bad form to try to sell stuff on the main forum. Hell of a nice car though.
ya, I didn't read that it was for sale, and you were good enough to include a phone number in case anyone wanted to ask questions about the car, I got it. Great looking car!
This is a super nice build. Dennis is "Mr Attention To Detail", as I have seen this car in person. I am encouraging Dennis to post more photos of the actual build, so you can see the level of his work. He tig welds everything together and it has many parts that are next to impossible to find. Even though Dennis is in his 70's I am always amazed at what he puts out. He spends most everyday working in his shop building stuff, just because that what he loves to do. Great work Dennis!!
Sorry, I thought that was why the phone number was there. My bad. Ok, I'll say it again, STUNNING car. Is that better?
Thanks Gary! Only put these photos on the Forum for you guys to enjoy not to sell. I already got in trouble with the mods over an other thread. Just learing the computer. Wasted about an hour to get this thread up. Might get a few more photos some day. Dennis
As per the book by Gerald Hodge I think that this is the car that {lover Boy}} Bob Hogle brought down south to race.. He was involved in a wreck and the burned to the ground at the Mobile Alabama speedway. Good Job on the car Dennis as I have always admired your work... Bobby
Man... nice seeing this thread up top again. That rascal is also a lot heavier than the all aluminum-motored, ultra-lite everything cars raced now. Gary
Am I the only guy who wonders what mods were made to the Y block way back then to make it compe***ive?
Dennis, What a gem - been looking at your other builds too - all amazing work! Jordan Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Those old Supers still look super (ha ha) be they old or tribute cars! I'm also a big fan of the Nance stuff. Gary
Tell us about the Jack Clegg conversation(post 15).......did he enjoy seeing the car gussied up, and pretty ? Great restoration.....I think. Any more details that you can provide ? Pretty cool to see that a car like that could still exist today. Awesome. Thanks for the bump. First time seeing it.
What a great vintage race car! Loudon, NH's NASCAR track, has a vintage week each year and I love to see these old hot rods running around the track again. Some of these are bordering on art beyond their utilitarian uses. And a Y-block too. I second Ole Don's inquiry as to how they made a Y-block compe***ive in the late 50s.
That is a great looking car! I believe the correct term for the design, year, and the race track is "Modified Sportsman." A super modified styled race car for Southern California came along about 1961/1962 and was much bigger.
