When I was a kid I saw a chopped coupe in an uncles garage and thought they were the coolest cars ever. When our shop gets slow we have in the past built bobber style motorcycles to make a buck but never a car. I have always wanted to build one so this is my first attempt at building a car. I was not going for any time period I was just going for a picture in my mind of what I thought would look cool to me and thats it. I have used other ideas I have seen here also that were way better than my own. I will admit this forum has answered countless question with its search function and for that I thank you. I will let the pictures do most of the talking... Car as I brought it home
I didnt have a windshield frame but got dimensions from my neighbors junk one and made one from square tubing and flat stock
Made a steering wheel out of solid chunk of steel. Not really practical but I had the scrap and the time so.. Dash is solid block of aluminum. Made for the same reason, more time than money. I know its not traditional but making parts out of what you have laying around is somewhat.
Front and rear seats made. Would have been so much easier to eliminate the rumble seat for gas and battery location but I want my 13 year old to be able to ride with us if she wants.
So many things have been a first for me so I thought I would try to paint it myself. I bought a Devilbliss gun and started practicing. Learned a ton. Painted my tank 4 times before I was pleased with it. Let me backup and say I primed and sanded the car 4 times before painting. Far from perfect but I am very pleased with it.
I always loved cars with numbers. In my mind this is what an old circle track car would look like. Minus the sbc of course. Some may hate it but I like em.
