So, I went over to the highschool where my dad taught before he retired a few years ago. I'm on good terms with the guys there, and I had to do some fixin on my '55 Ply. It's much warmer there than in my 15* shop. So I walk in, and look around, noticing what has changed since last time I was there, and what do I spy? a '56 Buick 4rd hardtop, complete, with nailhead. Apperently, a guy in a neighboring town started restoring it, then decided to sell it, but couldn't find a buyer, so he donated it to the highschool. On top of that, one of the teachers there is restoring/hot rodding his '55 Chev. Those students have no idea the oportunities they have before them. I included a pic of teh Buick, and an onerall shot of my '55, the '55 Chev, and the buick(i had to lighten it because the shop lights were off in back)
That's cool. I've been trying to figure out a way to do this with my students. In my shop I have now, we could easily do it; large door, extra space, etc. In the new shop (next year) I only have a set of wide double doors that lead outside......and are BELOW the surface level. Anyway, I wanted to bring it up here on the HAMB, but the space in the new shop and only having those small doors leading outside...........I guess we could just drive it down the hallway and go out.... I have some kids that would REALLY take to the car thing, way before the wood thing..... When I get over in the new shop, I'll see about rearranging and outside access.....
Dang when I graduate my students will only get to see my 50 dodge and if there lucky any other projects I got going at that time. Dang it when I took auto shop the dang shop teacher I had made us read a book about it all semester I never even changed the oil in my truck in that shop. Fortunately I'm picking plenty of knowledge on my own. DANG LUCKY KIDS AND THERE KICKASS SHOP CLASSES
Wow, oh wow. I don't know how i feel about that. Thats crazy. The best thing i got to work on in my day was a '53 chevy pickup, i guess it wasn't so bad. It was kinda fun driving that around the back of the school, and to and from the old school (we just built a new one a few years ago).
Im working on my 37 chev pick up in my shop class. Its nice to be able to work inside during the winter where there is light and warmth.
my 48 chevys being built in my shop class, i love that class we've got the most laid back teacher ever, he doesn't care what the hell we do! for example we're building a 5hp mini chopper sort of thing that would never be allowed here and the teacher hides it from the administrators!!
