Wheels

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MrManz, Nov 16, 2005.

  1. Does anyone know where i might find some steel wheels that are a 5 on 4 1.4? The rear end is out of a 91 ford thunderbird.

What size wheels? I know there were T-birds that came from the factory with hubcaps... you might check there. I think 88-97 is pretty much the same car.

That is also an early Mopar bolt circle.

Look around for 60's A-body Mopars. They are gonna be 13's or 14's, though.

89+ T Birds and Cougars, Windstars, as well as Sables and Taurus...es.

All of these would be FWD offset wheels though.

Check out www.TCCOA.com articles section for info on changing over those hubs to a 5 x 4.5 bolt circle. Not that bad if it's a disc brake rear end.

  7. am i going to be hosed on trying to find two 15in steelies for the rear of my bucket? i dont really care what the offset is. I just need it to be a 15in wheel with that pattern. I dont want to change out the rear axle and i dont want to spend 115$ on two wheel adaptors. so do you think that the best place would be like a slavage yard or pick and pull?

    -Andrew

And thank you all for the help

If all you want are 15 inch steelies, regardless of offset, width or look, hit the junkyard for a pair of wheels off a Taurus. There are at least 137 of these cars in any given yard.
Should be 15 x 6 and in the correct bolt pattern.

I`m pretty sure that you mean 5x4-1/2 pattern right? I have three of those rear ends and there ALL 5 on 4-1/2! Yes, Ranger steelies will bolt right on! You don`t want Taurus wheels because of the offset.

  11. i was told that 5 on 4 1/4 was the bolt pattern for a 91 thunderbird. Thats what im looking for. SO a ford ranger will or will not fit?

If your T-bird rear is an independent, I think you'll find it's a metric pattern. Best bet is to have drums and axles redrilled to 5 on 4 1/2.

Independent T-bird rears are 5x 4.25 not a metric pattern.

  16. I think I have some early "artilery" style wheels in that bolt pattern. Larger dia. than 15" though.
