Motion Pictures car movie trivia question

looking for a name of the movie from the late 50s-early 60s

it was about cars driving in a canyon and then seeing headlight coming in there lane and they would turn off and crash .
but what it was was someone had put up a mirror and they were seeing there on headlights .then a guy decided to take it head on and drove thru the mirror and figured it out.

I believe it is Thunder Road starring Robert Mitchum. I remember the scene with the mirror but I don't remember the actors too well.

A little newer but saw that same idea on Fireball 500 also.

 

right on.....Fireball 500....with Barris built Frankie's Cuda and Fabin's Charger.....they drove an old Dodge post on a whiskey run similar to TR.....

I don't think it is legal to sleep when that movie is on the late, late channel.

 

It fooled James Bond too.
