Have a chevy 350 with the numbers 10D153886 and also V0220CNP can anyone tell me what year is this engine....number came off the block
There will be a cast-in code near where the bellhousing bolts on, a letter and three numbers with slotted screw heads on either side. This code will tell you the date the block was cast. A is January, B is February, etc. The next two numbers are the date of the month and the last number is the year in the decade. For example, if the last digit is 8 it could be a block from '58, '68, '78, etc. Other clues in the block will pinpoint the exact year. Chevy heads have the same casting date code.
JD - I got those numbers from the engine ID/ VIN code area. Does that mean I have to get the block date code and casting number too. I can't get back to see the block date code or block casting number. Joker - it isn't the orginal motor Saltflat- 1970s seems possible but in order to get the right headers and such it would be super nice to narrow down.
The partial VIN 1=Chevy 0=1970 D= Danville Georgia if the CNP suffix code is as stated( I didn't look it up) its from a 1970 full size chevy, motor assembled on 2/20/70
