so went out meandering in roswell,nm and what do i find? new mexico dry 59 cadillac fleetwoood! ok wasnt found on a limb, but close enough! buddy of mines found the deal, didnt have the funds to snag it , so sent it my way!
the old guy was catually really cool, had a NM highway service tractor from 1946, still ran and all, was really a neat deal
so got the car home and it was full , and when i mean full, i mean full, to the point where i needed a shovel to get dirt and debris and rabbit and mice life out....
so after 5 hours of digging and shoveling, did i mention, the kids broke all teh gl*** out by throwing rocks, graaa.so fighting dirt, heat, dust, and broken gl*** i finally got to the point where i am ready for power washing. very loooong day....
What are you're plans for her? Here is a friend of mines car for some inspiration... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=697698&highlight=dubai
bigggest surprise was when i open the hood, everything was in tack, from the cruise control to the air cleaner.very very shocking car. even had the vent tube for the generator ;D
Very Cool deal! The Fleetwood is a trim level to beat all others in the 4 door line. Man, I've always had a softspot for the 59. My friend had one in his boneyard that we sold to Sweden back in the early 90's for 600.00 but the whole top side had been used as a trampoline. BTW would 15 K be too far out of line for an older running restored red 4 door Sedan De Ville like the one in those pics? A collector locally has one thats in a warehouse.
sorry for the big pictures, but jalopy uploader died. car has very good body and i am happy to add to me fleetwood collection. progress will be relaly slow thanks to the other 6 cars i have in front!
get this! has the ky still in ignition, we hooked up the battery chragger to at at jump, tried it, no luck. put the car in park "nuetral safety switch" and it began turning over ;DDD without pulling the plugs or draining oil we didnt go further, but i would second you guys' motion!!!
Oh buddy, you need to check out this website. http://www.mckennasgarage.com/cad/cad_index.html I had a '62 fleetwood in high school and was amazed at this guys ground up resto on his '59. John Heres me and my pride and joy back in the day
thats a sharp 62! very nice color. as far as plans, prolly put it all in primer to stop the oxidation process....thinking to do a frame on since its already so complete.will take a hundred years to polish all the stainless pieces! but thats the fun of it all!
